Virserius Studio was secured by The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to redesign its Boulevard and Chelsea towers,  which are slated to be finished next year. Following completion of the project, which is part of a resort-wide upgrade, 2,895 of the resort’s 3,027 rooms will have been remodeled.

The new room design is the result of an 18-month-long selection process. Twenty designers were asked to bid on the project, and eight were selected to present in Las Vegas. From there, four design firms were chosen to build model rooms on site. Then the hotel solicited feedback from more than 400 of its employees, as well as its repeat guests. Their response played an integral role in determining which designs were selected, according to the hotel, landing Virserius Studio the commission along with the in-house design team.

“The vision for this premium room collection at The Cosmopolitan was one of bold design and bright accents to complement the overall contemporary aesthetic,” says Therese Virserius. “Virserius Studio collaborated with The Cosmopolitan to ensure the utmost premium deliverables for guests, with a strong emphasis on luxurious comfort. Coupled with curated art pieces and statement-making detailing, this project honored the modern spirit of The Cosmopolitan alongside the history and vibrant essence of the Las Vegas Strip.”

The Terrace rooms (including studios, one bedrooms and suites) and the Reception suites will incorporate jewel tones, gold-colored accents and handcrafted patterns. Highlights include a custom damask wallcovering that doubles as a canopy over the beds, as well as a collection of bold, internationally sourced artwork. More playful notes will be added in select areas, such as whimsical wallpaper within the closets or shadowed silhouettes that separate the shower from the bedroom

Where The Cosmopolitan is at today is a reinvention of the property that opened its doors more than six years ago,” says Bill McBeath, President and CEO of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. “The past two years have been a transformative process that has reinvigorated gaming, food and beverage and will now include the complete redesign of our hotel rooms–they are bold, innovative and a direct reflection of our alluring brand.”
